17 May - International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia

2026-05-15 14:17
Every year on 17 May, the world comes together to observe the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia — known as IDAHOBIT. This date was chosen to mark the anniversary of the World Health Organization's decision in 1990 to remove homosexuality from its classification of mental disorders, a landmark moment in the journey towards equality and dignity for all.

IDOHOBIT is a reminder that, while much progress has been made, LGBTQ+ people around the world continue to face discrimination, prejudice, and exclusion in many areas of life — including the workplace. Here, we believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and free to be themselves — without exception.

This day is not just about raising awareness. It's an invitation for each of us to reflect on how we can be better allies — by listening, by speaking up when we witness exclusion, and by fostering an environment where difference is celebrated rather than merely tolerated.

To our LGBTQ+ colleagues: we see you, we value you, and we are proud to stand alongside you — today and every day.

Take a moment today to learn, to listen, and to show up for the people around you. Small acts of inclusion make a lasting difference.

💜 Together, we are stronger.
