Safeguarding & School Procedures

2026-03-26 16:04
Dear all,

Just a few important reminders:

  1. Social Media & Safeguarding
  2. As part of our safeguarding requirements, staff must not allow students to follow their personal accounts (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Please ensure that any current students are removed or blocked from your personal platforms. This relates to all ISL staff, not just teachers.
  3. Educational Platforms
  4. If you use online platforms to share videos or resources, only school email addresses should be used for student access. This allows us to verify users and helps ensure the safety of both staff and students.
  5. Student Use of Personal Devices
  6. Students are not permitted to use personal devices in school. This includes (but is not limited to) phones, iPads, laptops, smartwatches, and smart glasses. This applies to all year groups, including primary.
  7. We have received complaints regarding inappropriate video recordings (including in toilets) and students watching videos during the school day.

  • Phones must be kept in bags, not in pockets.
  • Phones must not be charged during school hours, as they must remain out of sight.
  • In secondary, please ensure bags are kept on the floor to prevent device use during lessons.

  1. Hoodies in Class
  2. Students are not permitted to wear hoods in class. This helps prevent the use of hidden headphones. Feeling self conscious is not a valid reason for wearing a hood during lessons.
  3. School Gates
  4. Please ensure that gates are fully closed behind you. Recently, several have not been secured properly and have remained open.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support in keeping our school community safe.

Kind regards

Jenny Sykes
