MYP 4 Visual Arts — Observing the Everyday: Still Life as Storytelling

This term, our MYP 4 students are exploring how everyday objects can be turned into meaningful visual stories. In the unit Observing the Everyday: Still Life as Storytelling, they’re learning to look closely at familiar objects and consider the cultural, personal, or symbolic meaning they might hold.

Students are developing their drawing and painting skills while learning how composition, colour, and form shape the way an artwork is understood.

By the end of the term, each student will produce a still life artwork that combines careful observation with symbolism and design.

MYP 1 Visual Arts — Mind-Bending Illusions: Exploring Optical Art

In this unit, our MYP 1 students are exploring optical art. Getting inspired from Op Art pioneers like Bridget Riley, Victor Vasarely, and M.C. Escher, they’re exploring how colour, line, shape, and pattern can work together to create visual effects.

Students recently visited the Optical Illusions Museum in Limassol. Seeing illusion-based installations gave them a hands-on understanding of how artists use visual design to influence what we think we see.

Throughout the unit, students have been developing key skills such as shading, blending, and creating patterns.
