Grade 4 Formula1 Racing STEM Project

On November 20th, our Grade 4 students took part in the exciting F1 Racing STEM Project led by Anatoly Bragin and supported by Vaiva Savva, Elena Rodionova, Fatima Loshchits, and Christiana Orros. The day ran from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and provided a hands-on introduction to key concepts in design, aerodynamics, forces, and teamwork.

Students worked in collaborative teams to assemble simplified cardboard cars and prepare for the final race. Throughout the project, they had the opportunity to:

-Create a team identity (name, colours, logo)
-Assemble and decorate their cars
-Explore basic aerodynamics and forces through an interactive mini-lesson
-Race their cars on the official track and compare outcomes

Reflect on how they could further streamline and improve their designs

This engaging interdisciplinary experience supported creativity, problem-solving, communication, and team building. It also strengthened connections to science (forces, motion, aerodynamics), design (construction and aesthetics), and wellbeing (collaboration and active participation).

The students showed great enthusiasm, teamwork, and curiosity throughout the entire process. It was a successful and memorable learning experience for everyone involved.
