Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Linguistics and a PGCE in English from the University of Cape Town.
She previously taught as an English Teacher at Yangon International School in Mandalay, Myanmar. Before that, she worked as an Academic Head and English Teacher at Crescent International School in Bangkok and as an English Teacher at Galaxy International School in Uganda. Mary also taught English and Global Perspectives at Alexandria International Academy in Egypt and worked as an IB DP Language and Literature Teacher at Özel Bilkent School in Turkey.
Her teaching career began in South Africa, where she taught English, Technology, and Arts and Culture at Eshowe High School and COSAT. She also served as a Teacher Representative on the School Governing Body at Eshowe High School.
