A Dream Discovered: MYP Students Explore Paris

Last weekend, a group of MYP 1 - 5 students studying French had the opportunity to take part in an educational trip to Paris, accompanied by Mr. Aleksei, Ms. Mary, and Ms. Lara. What began as a carefully planned school journey soon became something much more meaningful.

During the trip, one student remarked: “I didn’t know I had a dream, but it has just come true - I’ve been to Paris.” This sentiment captured the spirit of the experience, not only for the students but also for the teachers accompanying them.

The trip was the result of several months of preparation and involved a group of 19 students. Beyond visiting iconic landmarks such as Notre-Dame, Montmartre, and the Eiffel Tower, students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the language and culture they study at school. Guided tours, walks through historic streets, and shared experiences helped bring their learning to life.

The programme also included time for relaxation and enjoyment, with a memorable day at Disneyland providing balance and allowing students to simply enjoy being together.

For many, this trip represented more than travel. It was an opportunity for personal, linguistic, and social growth - a chance to experience the world in a new way. For the teachers, it was a reminder of the impact such experiences can have on young people.

The group returned tired but happy, full of stories and new perspectives. Most importantly, the trip reinforced a powerful idea: some of the most meaningful outcomes of education are not measured in tests or grades, but in moments when students discover new possibilities - and even dreams they didn’t know they had.
