Maria Michael joined our school in August 2022 as a dedicated Greek Language Teacher, bringing with her a diverse professional background and a deep commitment to student wellbeing and language education. Maria holds a Bachelor's degree in Byzantine and Modern Greek Literature from the University of Cyprus, and her academic training is complemented by professional experience across the education, social services, hospitality, and project management sectors. Prior to joining our team, Maria worked at SPAVO (Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family), where she provided holistic educational and emotional support to children in domestic violence shelters. Her broad expertise in communication, empathy, and creative education deeply enriches her teaching approach. Maria's passion for the Greek language is matched by her ability to connect with students of all backgrounds, helping them develop both their linguistic skills and cultural understanding in a nurturing, inclusive environment. In the classroom, Maria is known for her warmth, positivity, and thoughtful planning. She actively contributes to school life and demonstrates a commitment to our school’s values through everything she does.

Grigoria first joined our school community in August 2023 as a co-teacher, and in September 2025, she transitioned into her current role as a Greek Language Teacher. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education from the University of Crete, Greece, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Neapolis University Paphos. In addition, she has completed seminars in Special Education and School Psychology. With a strong academic foundation and experience across diverse age groups and learning needs, Grigoria brings a deep understanding of student development and inclusive teaching practices. She is dedicated to fostering a positive, student-centred learning environment that promotes both language growth and emotional wellbeing. Fluent in Greek and English Grigoria is passionate about fostering a love of language and culture in her students. Her warm presence, academic dedication, and collaborative approach are highly valued by students, families, and colleagues alike.

Christianna joined The Island Private School in September 2023 as our PYP Arts Teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art and Art History from Kingston University in London and brings with her over five years of experience teaching visual arts to students from early years through middle school. Before joining our school, Christianna worked at the Lighthouse School in Limassol, where she developed and delivered multidisciplinary art programmes that nurtured students’ creativity and artistic confidence. Christianna has a deep passion for arts education and is committed to creating inclusive, engaging, and stimulating learning environments where every child can express themselves freely. Her professional background also includes experience in curriculum development, event coordination, and sustainable design. In addition to her teaching career, she has led community-based creative projects and co-managed artistic initiatives that promote both environmental awareness and hands-on exploration. Outside the classroom, Christianna enjoys working with ceramics, sculpture, photography, and yoga—interests that further enrich her holistic and student-centred teaching approach.

Iro joined The Island Private School in September 2022 as our Music Teacher. She holds a Master’s degree in Music Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Nicosia, and a Bachelor of Music with Honours from City University with performance tuition in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Iro is an accomplished clarinettist with a vibrant background in orchestral and chamber music, and she continues to perform regularly with professional ensembles across Cyprus and Europe. Before joining our school, Iro taught music in both the UK and Cyprus, working with children of all ages in a variety of school and conservatory settings. Alongside her teaching, she performs as Principal Clarinettist with the Commantaria Orchestra and as Second Clarinettist with the Cyprus Philharmonic Orchestra. Passionate about music education and deeply committed to nurturing creativity in young learners, Iro brings warmth, experience, and a love for performance to every classroom she enters.

Vasia joined The Island Private School in September 2023 as our Drama Teacher. She holds a B.Sc. in Theatrical Studies from the University of Peloponnese and a Diploma in Acting from Vladimiros Kafkarides Drama School. With over a decade of experience in drama education and theatrical performance, Vasia brings a deep passion for the performing arts and a strong commitment to nurturing students’ creativity, self-expression, and confidence. Throughout her career, Vasia has taught drama to children and adults across a range of educational settings, including public elementary schools, private studios, and cultural organisations. She is the founder of The Yart Studio in Limassol, where she has designed and delivered drama programmes focused on theatre games, improvisation, acting techniques, and performance preparation. Vasia has also directed numerous children’s and amateur theatre productions and collaborated on educational projects promoting social-emotional learning through theatre. Fluent in Greek and English, Vasia combines her artistic background with a child-centred teaching approach, helping students develop not only performance skills but also empathy, collaboration, and imagination through the art of drama.

Evridiki joined The Island Private School in May 2023 as an English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher, supporting students across a wide range of English proficiency levels. She brings with her over 18 years of experience in language education and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by multilingual learners. She holds a degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Cyprus and also earned a diploma in Spanish as a foreign language from the Cervantes Institute. She acquired a Masters degree from the Open University of Cyprus in December 2024 on 'Continuous Training and Lifelong Learning for adults In addition, Evridiki has a diploma in Kindergarten Studies from the University of Nicosia (Intercollege), giving her a strong foundation in early childhood education. Before joining The Island School, Evridiki worked as an English language teacher at Evrognosi Language Centre, teaching learners of all ages and levels. Since 2013, she has also been serving as a Cambridge oral examiner for YLE and KET/PET exams. Her teaching is student-centred, communicative, and adaptable, with a warm and encouraging approach. Evridiki is fluent in Greek and English and speaks basic Spanish.

Styliana joined The Island Private School in September 2023 as a Co-Teacher and transitioned to the role of EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher in November 2024. With a strong background in English language teaching and a passion for inclusive education, she supports students in developing their English skills with patience, structure, and individualised attention. She holds a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL) from the University of Leicester and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her academic and practical training includes experience in distance learning and psychoeducational support for students in multilingual environments. Before joining The Island School, Styliana worked at a range of educational institutions in Cyprus, including Eurognosi Limassol, Trehandiri Nursery and Preschool, and To Kryfo Scholio. She has prepared students for various Cambridge English exams and developed tailored strategies for young learners. Styliana is fluent in Greek and English and has elementary proficiency in Russian and Spanish.

Aleksandrina joined The Island Private School in September 2024 as our Physical Education Teacher. She holds a BSc (Honours) in Sports, Fitness, and Coaching from The Open University in the United Kingdom, and brings with her a dynamic background in sports education and youth athletic development. Aleksandrina is also a certified basketball coach with over six years of experience leading youth teams, planning training programmes, and fostering a love for sport and teamwork among children and teens. Before joining our school, Aleksandrina worked as a coach at Anorthosis Famagusta Basketball Club in Limassol, where she coordinated training sessions, mentored young athletes, and led teams in competitive leagues. Her passion for physical education is supported by numerous certifications and international seminars, including the EHCB EuroLeague Coaches Academy, with training in strength and conditioning, game strategy, and youth development. Aleksandrina is fluent in English, Bulgarian, and Greek, which allows her to connect easily with students and families from diverse backgrounds. Energetic, approachable, and committed to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, she brings a spirit of encouragement and motivation to her students both on and off the field.

Kyriakos joined The Island Private School in September 2025 as our Physical Education Teacher. He holds a First-Class Honours degree in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Surrey and brings a strong foundation in athletic performance, youth coaching, and physical education. His professional qualifications include Personal Trainer and Gym Instructor certifications, as well as a UEFA C Coaching Licence, which he uses to support a wide range of learners — from beginners to young athletes training at competitive levels. Prior to joining our team, Kyriakos gained hands-on experience as a strength and conditioning coach for Karmiotissa’s U14 and U17 football teams, and worked with children aged 6 to 12 at NIKKI COERVER football academy. He also served as a personal trainer and gym instructor, designing tailored training programmes to improve strength, endurance, and athletic skill. His early work at youth summer camps gave him valuable experience in leading inclusive and engaging activities for children of diverse backgrounds. Kyriakos is fluent in English and Greek, and is known for his calm confidence, motivation-driven approach, and ability to create positive, energetic environments where every student is encouraged to thrive. His dedication to health, fitness, and youth development is evident both in and out of the classroom.
